Review: The Commercials

The Commercials
““Twenty Years Tonight””
(Jumpstart Records)

Both in the music and album art, there exists this semi-lovely artistic element to The Commercials new release.  I didn’’t put in the effort to find out who bankrolled the fourteen page album sleeve…but good frickin’’ job. Labeling themselves “melodic hardcore” stretched and twisted their bio into a fictional reality, being that few songs rage harder than Weezer or Elliot…bands that popped into my head.  Focus on Pudge’’s drum playing (this I command).  His distinct, off in his own world, rhythms inject a little sting into the “new underground” style of “twenty years tonight”…not a bad album, just a little candy cane for me.
