The Commercials
“Twenty Years Tonight”
(Jumpstart Records)
Both in the music and album art, there exists this semi-lovely artistic element to The Commercials new release. I didn’t put in the effort to find out who bankrolled the fourteen page album sleeve but good frickin’ job. Labeling themselves melodic hardcore stretched and twisted their bio into a fictional reality, being that few songs rage harder than Weezer or Elliot bands that popped into my head. Focus on Pudge’s drum playing (this I command). His distinct, off in his own world, rhythms inject a little sting into the new underground style of twenty years tonight not a bad album, just a little candy cane for me.
