Review: Wayne Marshall

Wayne Marshall
“Marshall Law”
(VP Records)

If dancehall is your thing, then the Marshall is king. Lush keyboards, positive lyrics, it’s all here. Mr. Marshall doesn’t have a commanding voice like say an Elephant Man, or the slept on Shabba. Yet he still comes off comfortable and sure of himself. The production throuhgout the entire CD is nice, but nothing jumps out like a “hit” recording. Even when sparring with the likes of Vybes Kartel or Assassin & Warfare, this disc never seems to pass to the level of heat! It would be nice to hear what Wayne Marshall could do with a slower tempo thrown in the mix sometimes. Still, this is a positive record, and one I would recommend. So if you like the sounds that have come to dominate the current state of dancehall production, then this will feel good to you. If not, wait and purchase it at a later date.
