Mitch Hedberg is the Steven Wright of this generation. His singular observations are at times so painfully obvious it’s funny (‘I haven’t slept for 10 Days… because… that would be too long.’) or phrased in such a manner that the inherent stupidity is obvious (‘This shirt is dry clean only, which means it’s dirty.’) And then there are the drug-induced tangents that are just so offbeat, they are funny (‘If carrots got you drunk, rabbits would be fucked up.’) Backed on this CD by a jazzy bass player (who gets props often during the set from Mitch), the jokes have the tempo of a lounge act, slightly drunk, most certainly high, rambling along a stream of disconnected jokes and comments that are mostly amusing, and often truly laugh inducing.
