New Mad Max trailer is sick

 

The Mad Max franchise is getting a solid reboot in Mad Max: Fury Road.

As generations pass, and one ages into oblivion, there are certain cultural touch stones one starts to take for granted. One assumes EVERYONE has seen one, if not all three, Mad Max movies.

They gave Mel Gibson a career. Because they were awesome. The definitive ‘post-apocalyptic’ flick that so defined a genre, it has been imitated and regurgitated in numerous forms since.

But there is probably a whole legion of teenagers and 20 somethings that haven’t seen the franchise, and are aware of Mad Max through comedic parodies and pop culture mentions.

This is a shame and their parents have failed them.

It is a good bet that the upcoming reboot written by George Miller (responsible for the first three Mad Max movies) starring Tom Hardy (he was Bane in The Dark Knight Rises) will spark some interest.

The film has had numerous starts, stops and production problems plaguing its existence since Miller announced having a script ready in 2003.

And then there was the whole Mel Gibson thing. The actor was synonymous with Mad Max. Now he is synonymous with something else… that doesn’t translate well with box office sales.

In November 2006, Miller stated that he intended to make Fury Road, and considered doing the film without Gibson: “There’s a real hope. The last thing I wanted to do is another Mad Max, but this script came along, and I’m completely carried away with it.”

The Gibson-less movie hits theaters on May, 15… and the trailer looks promising.

They need to bring Tina Turner back… how about a Barter Town origin story? Master Blaster? Who runs Barter Town?
