Review: Paint It Black

Paint It Black
“Paradise”
(Jade Tree)

Although no song is over 2 minutes long, they don’t need to be. Each song is powerful blast of old school hardcore punk intensity and rock structure. The guitar lays down a thick layer of chords, while Dam Yemin’s (ex-Lifetime/Kid Dynamite) loud-talking, which often breaks into a yell, has the same thickness without merely meshing with the guitar. They do a good job of slowing down to heartwarming parts and then moving instantly to fast paced loudness,
occasionally reminding me of Bad Brains.
