Review: NOFX

NOFX
“The Greatest Songs Ever Written By Us”
(Epitaph)

After about twenty years of jokes, politics, and more jokes NOFX deliver their first greatest hits collection. The album is a good representation of NOFX’s unique brand of pop punk, as well as their flirtation with genres like ska, power pop, and even doo-wop. The record seems to focus much more of their politically inclined anthems, and less of the pop punk humor that they have been associated with, which has gone on to influence bands like Nerf herder and Blink-182. Although missing some key songs like their jazzed out cover of Minor Threat’s “Straight Edge” and the lesbian love anthem “Liza and Louise”, the 27 songs on “The Greatest Songs Ever Written By Us” are the perfect skate park soundtrack.
