Review: Swift

Swift
“Waging War”
(Tribunal Records)

Remember how bad the Deftones sounded on that MTV show ‘Music In High Places’? This reminds me of that. Actually, this is like a carbon copy of the Deftones sound. And that review I did of Earshot, I change my mind. I can’t hang with a band that sounds exactly like another established band I already like. Here’s a thought. If you are in a band, and you like the Deftones or Grade or Hot Water Music or Tool or Blink 182, please, rush out and record an album. There aren’t enough bands copying those styles already. And the used CD bins still have a little bit of room. Swift equal lurching sonic melodies, emotionally charged lyrics and delicate singing interspersed with destructive screaming. They play proficiently, but this has been done better already. And it will most definitely be done better again.
