Few instrumental contemporary surf bands have a female front person, but Susan & The Surftones does. Here the group delivers the pipeline goods on an album of all originals. Like many surf bands of today, Susan et al mixes originals in with expected and unexpected covers live and on record. However, this album is purposefully to “set the record straight” that the group does produce original material. The album compiles the group’s original material that has a vintage, garage-surf feel. This is due to the guitar sound – as much dirt and reverb – with Vox and Farfisa organ. The rhythm section is Bob Becker and Jim Fritz of The Brainwashers.
