Various: Shanti Project Collection 2

“
Various Artists”
“Shanti Project Collection 2”
(Badman Records)

Seven individual female performers strapped with  an electric ax and a tube amp. Very mellow, very groovy and a very very good listen. Of the seven a couple to point out.: Mimi Parker’s “When you Walked out on Me” is a a killer little ballad stripped down down to the soul with a haunting minor chord progression and saddening vocals. Special mentions also must go out to Paula Frazer, and Edith Frost for strong additions to the collection. The disc also has music from Kristin Hersh, Rebecca Gates, Julie Doiron and MadM. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the disc will benefit Shanti Project of San Francisco.
