Radio One
“Self-Titled”
(Disaster)

Falling somewhere between the Clash circa Combat Rock and Social Distortion on a sub-par day, this SoCal outfit is maybe worth the price of a single. “Pipebomb Rebels” could be the A-side and “Headlines” could be the undiscovered gem on the B-side. The rest of the thirteen songs could go back to where they came from. To play music like this in 2004 you need to take it to a different place than it’s been for fifteen or twenty years. That may be easier said than done, but there it is. “Perfect Crime”, “Gun Talk” and “Hard Knocks” are indistinguishable from one another a mere four feet from the speaker. They probably raise a real ruckus live, but I’d rather hear some slacker street punk band of high schoolers who truly don’t give a fuck what their forefathers sounded like.
