With a pretentious title like “Alive Again: The Breathing Shadow Part IV” how can this album fail to please me in every which way but loose?  Give me a length of rope, just long enough so my feet won’t touch the floor.  Give me a blade, sharp enough to cut a clean straight line through my flesh.  Give me a pill strong enough to lay me down within two minutes and never let me come alive again to hear “Alive Again: The Breathing Shadow Part IV.”

That said, the leader of the Nightingale band is a man by the name of Dan Swano who has an impressive list of bands he performs in varying in styles from this self-indulgent bullshit I’m listening to right now to hardcore to pop/punk to death metal to experimental doom rock.  I don’t get to listen to any of those other projects, however, what I get is Nightingale a progressive light Euro metal tale of a man masturbating between two worlds.  The album tells a story, a long story since the three prior albums told part one, two and three of the story.  The concept involves a wrathful spirit haunting its murderer.  It’s tough being dead and spending your time amongst the living.  That’s the idea.  That’s the concept.  If you like that sort of thing, then this is the album for you, but if this is the album for you, then I don’t want you anywhere near me you big girly freak.  Put down my magazine, loser!
