Comadose
“Re-Up”
(Screaming Ferret Wreckords)

Slipping into a coma and violently arising from one are two entirely different things.  Kick-ass hardcore bands will awaken while Comadose will lull you into the eternal nap with a few smoldering tracks of east coast hardcore.  Slithering out of the scene in Boston, Mass, Comadose is a favorite of the new startup label Screaming Ferret Wreckords.  Driving metal guitar rhythms with awkwardly placed record scratching define the sound which apparently is sweeping the city, that is if you believe everything the press releases tell you.  The truth be told, they are pretty damn good at what they do, which I am convinced is to impersonate Limp Bizkit.  At any rate, they claim to be an overly energetic live band which emotes energy like fat people manufacture sweat.  I don’t quite know if I buy that argument, but don’t knock ’em until you’ve tried ’em.  The opening cut, “Buzzkill”, creeps in with a laser-sounding guitar line when, all of the sudden, the band kicks in and I feel like I have heard this before….Oh yeah, Korn did the same thing.  “Cushion” starts off hot and keeps burning through to the very end, leaving nothing in its path intact (a rarity with this band, I’m sure).  Re-Up gets exciting at times but I think the weakest link in the band is the singer/rapper Michael; I’m sorry, but my pet cockroach has more talent in his nasty little shell then this guy has in his voice.  There, I said it.  Trying to navigate the iceberg-infested waters of the Arctic Ocean would be easier then trying to find you way around their site at www.comadose.com.  I can’t even begin to guess if there are MP3’s or the like there, but if you search for hours I am sure you will find some.  You really have to like Comadose to buy them, but who knows, miracles happen.
