“Megabite”

After Hip-Hop moguls Freestyle Fellowship parted ways, rapper Aceyalone took the wheel and made his piece. While I liked Ace, I was always waiting for P.E.A.C.E. to get his piece. “Megabite” had the potential for him to get that. This album would also sound better on Mescaline. P.E.A.C.E. has a very talented freestyle, holds legendary status in the West Coast Hip-Hop history, and will flatten many better than average MC’s on the spot. So I’m confused, because “Megabite” is more a mixture of chaotic rambling Rap, and sleepy beats. To be honest, not all of them are sleepy. There is a hint of Drum & Bass in there…and that’s all I will say about those tunes. P.E.A.C.E. is all over the place, and he would shine more if the production wasn’t so ho-hum. You really have to be a P.E.A.C.E. fan, to be feeling this release. Since “6-Tre”, I’ve been feeling’ P.E.A.C.E. Sure I like Battle Rap. Sure I like the L.A. underground sound. Of course I like Abstract Rude (who appears on the last track). Problem is the thing sounds completely off balanced this time. The thing about this album, you might love it too. Or you might be over it from the jump. I’m bouncing back and forth between the two!
