If you die in this game, you never get to play again. Ever.

Die here… and they will never find your corpse.

“Tough” video games are typically defined by challenges that result in repeated deaths. Most games expect you to fail. Often repeatedly. With some degree of humiliation. Games like Dark Souls even seem take a certain sadistic satisfaction in repeatedly slapping your character down into death, knowing you will step up for more punishment like the little crack addict gamers you are.

The idea of a ‘respawn’ do-over has become ubiquitous as a game mechanic for even the most casual player.

Upsilon Circuit is having none of that noob-do-over nonsense. You want hardcore? How about ‘perma-permadeath’.

Technically, ‘permadeath’ would be grammatically correct, but just so you REALLY understand… you know… REALLY REALLY understand… this is ‘permanent’-permadeath.

You get one shot. Make it count. If you lose, you never get to play the game again. Ever.

Upsilon Circuit is a fantasy RPG that selects two teams of four, for a total of eight players playing on a server at any given time. Knowing that one misstep ends the game… forever… will definitely take a psychological toll and effect player decisions and play styles.

You know what’s under that bridge? … Death.

But there is more…

A ‘live audience’ mechanic will directly effect game play.

“Each Contestant explores the overworld and generated dungeons in search of the Dream Tech Crystals. They fight monsters, avoid traps, and compete with the opposing team.”

“When the Contestant fights monsters or gets treasure, the EXP and other rewards go to the Audience. EXP is used collectively by the Audience to level up the Contestant’s Skill Tree. Simply put, the Audience is part dungeon master, part strategist, and part judge & jury.”

The game is still in development with no actual release date, however prototype footage has been released.
