Art in motion: LEGO machine folds and launches paper planes

This is a paper airplane folding and launching LEGO machine.

It was created by Arthur Sacek for an advertising campaign for Arrow Electronics, or more specifically, their aerospace and defense division.

Full disclosure: It does contain some non-standard LEGO parts, but is still a work of art… that folds and flies paper planes. Such more more art has done so much less…

The design seems simple but it took Sacek, an engineer with experience at building incredible things with LEGO blocks, four days with sleepless nights to build it and he was still calibrating the machine two hours before the advertisement needed to be filmed.

The commercial is shot in a way that does justice to the engineering feat accomplished by Sacek’s LEGO skills.

I tried to build one of these… but it came out all fucked up silly.
