Book Review: Andrew Kaufman “All My Friends Are Superheros”

Andrew Kaufman
All My Friends Are Superheros
(Coach House Press)

A tender, unique love story that is much deeper than the book’s 106 pages. The book follows Tom, whose friendships and loves with superheroes make him stand out as simple. Still, Tom is able to woo the Perfectionist, but on their wedding night, her spiteful ex-boyfriend, Hypno, using his superpowers, convinces the Perfectionist that Tom is invisible. The book is phenomenal, using tones of magical realism to display a much larger truth to everyday heartbreak, anxiety, and love.
