Spider is a punk band influenced by the early scene. Bands such as The Damned, Dr. Know, Cro-mags and even a slight hint of the sleazier faster side of the Stooges as heard on Raw Power seem to lend considerable fuel to Spiders musical drive. The songwriting is succinct, the playing terse and the delivery bright eyed. Spider, the name of the band, is taken from an amusement park ride. Maybe they’re trying to emulate the spinning, up and down tilting and whirling action of that long gone ride in the chords and beats of their music. They’re almost there. If they could just get you to puke when the album was finished, then they’d really have something there.
