Scorpion Child to poison the masses with ‘Acid Roulette’

These greasy fellas are the Austin, Texas band Scorpion Child.

Formed in 2006, the band has a penchant for referring to itself as ‘The Child’. Their first major release to hit the people was a 2013 Nuclear Blast self-titled effort called, ‘Scorpion Child’.

Between adopting a pet moniker and working through a slew of member changes, it’s not entirely surprising this unit might be low on many people’s radar. But that should change as these guys keeps hitting the road with their infectious bluesy acid rock. Hints of Pentagram reflect in the more driving moments as Scorpion Child likes to mine from that that magical guitar rock circa mid-to-late 70’s. Add a combustible live show to the mix and the elements align for some powerful jams that are both familiar and fresh.

Hellfest 2104

Scorpion Child have a new album set to release in June of 2016 called, “Acid Roulette” on Nuclear Blast.

“‘Acid Roulette’ chronicles the life trials of a traveling man who was imprisoned for a murderous crime,” comments vocalist Aryn Jonathan Black. “He was forced into confessing by his wife and her wealthy lover so that they could live out their romance without him in the picture. Once sentenced to a life’s term, he goes through extreme emotions dealing with the only woman he’d ever loved taking everything he’d known as ‘real’ away from him. He has to create and redefine his own reality accompanied by its roller coaster of emotional reflection. He experiences many different psychological changes throughout the years and escapes by means of drugs and his writings. These songs become his diary of a madman. The focus is mainly on the seasons in a year, for each song represents a month. The songs exist to drive home the full power of human emotion as many albums do. However, ‘Acid Roulette’ wires us into those extremes.”

Heavy.

The first track on “Acid Roulette” is the big thumping “She Sings, I Kill”. An advance lyric video has been released for your listening pleasure. Lots of thick, spidery guitars and howling Zeppelin-eque vocals.

Well… how do YOU think they make a scorpion kid?
