Review: Rise Against

Rise Against
“Revolutions Per Minute”
(Fat Wreck Chords)

“Revolutions Per Minute” serves as a strong follow-up to Rise Against’s first release, “The Unraveling,” which featured guitarist Mr. Dan Precision. Regrouping after his departure, the band enlisted guitarist Todd Mohney and recorded this solid masterpiece. Song for song “Revolutions” is head-above-the-rest, and the talent of the group, once again, is showcased in each song’s writing and performance.

Lyrically, singer Tim McIlrath belts out intelligent, inspirational lyrics while churning melodies back him up, encouraging the listener to be the backup singer. Solid, good songs make this sophomore release a must-have for any fan of Rise Against’s (or any) genre which could be described in a few words as fast, catchy, and smart.
