Review: Interpol

Interpol
“Antics”
(Matador)

Having carved out a niche as large as a cesarean scar in current popular culture with just two albums under their belt; Interpol seem to be that rare breed of musicians that the world of music hasn’t seen in awhile. Mysterious, melancholy, always dressed in black: that’s a good description of Interpol to someone unfamiliar with the band (not the International Police.) The many comparisons to Joy Division and nuances of The Cure’s early years have been reiterated and regurgitated so many times I’ve shat blood on several occasions. (Although, my rectal bleeding may have something to do with the large bears I’ve recently been getting fucked by?) Interpol should have a written a song called, “Not Even Shitting Blood.” Let’s hope for a B-Side of that one in the future! If you haven’t heard of Interpol yet, you should really check ’em out; but first and foremost: STOP HUFFING GAS…that’s just not good for you. Stay black!
