Review: The Haunted

The Haunted
“Revolver”
(Century Media)

“Revolver” marks the return of original vocalist Peter Dolving and is hands down the Haunted’s best record. This sounds like a band that’s set to destroy; almost like Sepultura’s “Chaos A.D” but slightly heavier. ‘Abysmal’ starts out with Dolving delivering in this melodic classic rock type voice, right before the music smacks you upside the head with pure aggression. ‘Nothings Right’ is just seething with pure aggression and a wall of thundering guitars. With this album it seems as though the Haunted tried to expand their sound a bit from what they’ve done in the past. Dolving sings melodically at points and some guitar tones are completely opposite of what you’d normally expect from the Haunted. This album is leagues above what’s currently being released and one of the best metal releases of 2004.
