Review: Doro

Doro
““Calling the Wild…””
(Koch Records)

I knew I had heard her before. I also knew, from her two-page biography that she’s had to have been around for a while. One word, Warlock. Remember? All through the 80’s. 17 albums, including compilations and live material. On “Calling the Wild…” it’s all about ballads and singalong choruses. She has a lot of cool guests including old friend Lemmy from Motorhead on the song “Alone Again” singing the harmonies and playing flamenco acoustic guitar. Slash stops by for a solo in “Now or Never.” Also on the album are Al Pitrelli (Megadeath), Andreas Bruhn (ex-Sisters Of Mercy) as well as her version of Billy Idols “White Wedding”. On this album Doro is all over the place from hard stompin guitar riffs and vocals to totally acoustic and mellow. The best thing about this album is the all the cool guests (namely Lemmy).
