Review: Doggy’s Angels

Doggy’s Angels
““Pleezbaleevit””
(TVT Records / Doggy Style Records)

Following in the star-making footsteps of his own mentor Dr. Dre, who also helped launch Eminem, Snoop Dogg has assembled female MC’s Chan, Kola, and Coniyac to form Doggy’s Angels.  Unfortunately, Snoop’s eye for talent is not quite as sharp as the good Doctor’s. “Pleezbaleevit” reveals Chan, Kola, and Koniyac to be adequate at best.  Even strong production, largely handled by “Fredwreck” Nassar and Battlecat (his incorporation of a steel drum loop on the title track is rather buttery), and numerous guest appearances by Snoop himself can’t quite bail the Angels out.  If you miss this one, you won’t have missed much.  Please believe it.
