Standard college rock mixed with the sassy post-punk influences generated by such brat rockers as NOFX, Green Day, Screeching Weasel, etc… Most of the latter influences come in the vocals & lyrics, but there are some hints and embellishments in the music that adhere to the essence of the latter as well. Most of the group’s sound is a derivative college radio blend of hundreds of other bands who have come and gone before from The Stone Roses to Smashing Pumpkins. Tearful tunes turning their therapeutic eyes inwards explore relationships, love, loss and self-actualization. What strikes me as truly odd for some reason that I’m not fully able to explain to myself without writing a series of songs exploring my feelings and overall socialization into the world, every member of the band is a male. It’s four dudes. Yet there’s something very chick-y about what 5they’re doing. I don’t mean to be insulting to any chick-y lovers out there, but it seems like there’d be at least one chick in the band to give them a helping hand up onto the stage at Lilith Fair. If I learn anything from Ultrapull it’s that some guys are just way to fucking sensitive about getting dumped. Just get out there and break some shit, don’t fucking pollute my ears with your sorry for yourself shit.
