Review: Panthers

Panthers
“Let’s Get Serious”
(Dim Mak)

The second release from New York’s Panthers and easily the better of the two.  “Let’s Get Serious” expands upon and develops what they were doing on 2002’s “Are You Down?” and showcases a band more mature, experimental and confident in their sound.  Technically sophisticated rocking out without ever being cluttered with prog pretensions.  Raw and heavy without ever degenerating into tiresome neo-Stooges territory.  Brilliantly recorded and produced by Steve Revitte.  Fans of Hot Snakes and Nation of Ulysses take note!  Panthers are getting serious and you should be too.
