Review: The Kills

The Kills
“Black Rooster EP”
(Dim Mak)

Ultra-hyped, lo-fi, indie, garage pop, but so far the hype seems justified.  The Kills pull off a stylish and charming batch of bluesy, stumbling, rumbling, tunes that amount to a rough cross between the White Stripes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  Or maybe a cross between mellower Royal Trux and the Pretenders.  Either way it’s fun and they’re going to be so huge it isn’t even funny.  Rough Trade just put out a full length for them.  Dig it, dig it, dig it, kiddies.
