Rocket from the motherfuckin Crypt! Does John Reis ever stop? Between this and Hot Snakes, his ‘side project’, I would think just praciticing would be a hassle and a half. I always hear that RFTC is ‘big overseas’, which is a quircky statement to make. So, do they suck here? Where is this oversea’s market? Russia? I’m assuming it’s more likely Japan, as those crazy bastards love whatever Americans do. Besides bomb them, I guess. But bomb them with old school Levi’s and some rock and roll and they’re stoked. As stoked as I am for a new RFTC album. I got ’em all. Got the cassette tape with the guy painting his armpits in my truck. Got the funky colored album, that pastel album, their album with the scorpion on it and that one with the big ‘ol snake all in my CD changer. So what the fuck is RFTC about, anyways? Hell, I dunno. Good rock. Some other instruments, like the trumpet or whatever. Everything’s solid about this group. No softness at all. Earlier in the RFTC discography you’ll find that they strayed from the musical path at some points, but now it’s just straight ahead, baby. Once, I saw these guys get booed opening for Soundgarden, which just tells you one thing: Soundgarden fans are morons. “It’s Rocket from the Crypt, not whiney pissgrunge, you dumbfucks,” I wanted to shout, but didn’t, because RFTC plays so fucking loud you could take a bite off an elephants testical and nobody would hear it. Fast, loud guitars. Lots of cymbal crashin’. 10 songs go by way fast in the 26 minute’s of this album, which sucks. because all of a sudden, it’s over.
