At least the players admit it: They suck. Now, I don’t like to be mean but I have to be truthful. Noothgrush is a band that plays slow heavy metal/slow hardcore (is there such a thing?) and performs it horribly. “Failing Early, Failing Often” is a compilation of songs produced on a number of albums from 1995 to 1997. Is this album interesting? Undeniably, no! Is the music cool? No way in hell. Can these guys play well? Well, let’s put it this way: Completely boring one note lines set against a drummer who just wants to fill constantly at about 55 beats per minute. Add to this mixture major time problems (no body is in sync) and shrill, pointless vocals, and you have this album. The saddest part about this release is the fact that these recordings were created over an extended period of time, and there is no noticeable improvement at all! Treat this album like an Anthrax-infested rat and stay far away. They do have a website at www.noothgrush.com but it’s sparse and I can’t find a single sound file to download. The purpose of this review is to let you know what the band sounds like and how the new release compares to other band releases in the same genre. Honestly, Noothgrush does not stack up at all. If you have a chance to buy this album, don’t. Sharing time is over; move on to the next review.
