Review: Minus The Bear

Minus The Bear
“Highly Refined Pirates”
(Suicide Squeeze)

Yet another indie-rock band from the pacific-northwest: No way man! Minus The Bear are some serious guitar technicians, and it shows on the bands’ most recent offering “Highly Refined Pirates.” From the album’s raucous opener, “Thanks For The Killer Game Of Crisco Twister” to the fun-loving, pill-popping track, “Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo”, Minus The Bear delivers the goods with style, panache and guitar-driven anthems that would make Doug Martsch, really, really proud.

With tales of drinking “Absinthe after dinner”, and popping Ativins to help you “sleep” -I can honestly say that “Highly Refined Pirates” has been in my CD player for about two months now, and I’m not sure when I’m gonna take that fucking CD out? The album is that fucking good. Go get it, beeyaatch!
