Im wiping the tears away as I write. This is probably on of the best indie records Ive heard all year and it comes from an artist that really deserves all the success in the world. Heralding as what the media dubbed the indie rock diva, Julie Doiron holds true to her respective title. I’ve always thought Julie and the singer of Low had a lot in common, but this record proves Julie is in another class of songwriters with her ability to fuse a jazzy spastic mentality of songwriting with her undying love of indie rock and Americana.
I’d like to think that this record is the little sister of Death Cab For Cuties Something About Airplanes. Julie Doiron writes her own material and the rest of the band gives the songs life and this allows her to really dictate the flow and the mood of the songs without anyone putting in their two cents.
I will be listening to this album for the rest of my life.
