If you know the Hellacopters than you know exactly what to expect. High energy rock and roll. And on this, their fourth full length, these raucous Scandinavians kick out the jams in a classic rock fashion not unlike the heaviness of the late 60’s and early 70’s. With Nick Royale leading the onslaught at vocals and guitar, we have Bobby Lee Fett at the funky Fender Rhodes organ, Kenny Hakansson tappin’ the bass, Robert Eriksson drummin’ like a madman and Robert Strings’ Dahlqvist doubling up the six string attack. This is as classic as rock gets for any modern artist, with a sound so rich and full, it almost sounds like they’re recording this bomb live inside your head. it’s that good. And with all the influences I can hear in this music, it’s still as original as any rock album I’ve heard. I do have to admit that I’ve been a Copter fan since ‘Supershitty to the Max’ came out in 1996. That smoker is a completely different jam. More from the gutter than the garage. And with each successive long player these guys have evolved and created new and better sounds. That aside, this is of the highest quality and the fact that Gearhead put this slab out is a testament to that. Votaries of the hot rod rawk and roll sound and fans of rock in general should definitely give this a spin. It won’t disappoint.
