Even though they’ve been around for like twenty years I’ve never heard the Hard-Ons before. You’d be shocked how much I don’t know about music. In fact, I own only one CD, “Yanni: Live at the Acropolis”. I’ve really been missing out by not listening to the Hard-Ons, though. While you might expect thrash and gutterness from a band with the bad sense to OK such heinous cover art, the music is anything but unimaginative, Neolithic punk.
These guys have toured with the Foo Fighters, the Chili Peppers, and Rollins Band to name a few, so their sound obviously encompasses a rather wide audio-swath. Both “Sunny” and “Baka” have a Beach Boys feel to them, minus the ooh and ahh backing vocals. Not afraid to delve into deeper waters, though, the Hard-Ons bring the heavier elements in “Punk Police” and the frontrunner for song title of the year, “(Every Time I Hear) Techno (I Pray for Death)”. “Very Exciting!” has got such a wide range of influences and sounds that just about everyone is going to want to add this one to their collection. So don’t be like me; listen to music and listen to the Hard-Ons. That Yanni guy is a fag anyway. My boyfriend told me so.
