Wow, indie rock from Oregon…what are the chances? While so many of their contemporaries have produced lackluster efforts lately though, Ever We Fall’s six-track EP is a breath of fresh air. With touches of Sunny Day Real Estate and the guitars of Armor for Sleep, “Endura” is as promising as it is brief. Well, brief may be a bit of a misnomer, as the six tracks will still take up a half hour of your day, but what a great thirty minutes it will be. “Unwind” starts the album off with moody, indie strains, leaving you with the impression you’re in for a passionate fit of somber, emo rock, then out of nowhere angular guitars rear their head and you’re thrown headfirst into beautifully crafted, richly layered music. Gone are the strangled screams so many emo bands are adding these days, replaced by driving choruses and melodic interludes. “Endura” is EWF’s first offering and is not to be missed.
