Review: Embrace Today

Embrace Today
“Soldiers”
(Deathwish)

Angry hardcore guys playing angry hardcore music.  The music, sans vocals, is a tight, hard hitting, full speed affair with chugging guitars, double bass thunder and deep head banging grooves, but the vocals…yuck.  The vocals are nothing but your standard uninspired shrieking, and they sink the album.  I just can’t take it.  The album’s fifteen songs long and clocks in at around one third of an hour in length, but even that short duration is too much to endure.  I receive no pleasure from this band.  But fans of an unrelenting wall of shrieking will love them.

Embrace Today are also straight edge.  I don’t know if that’s a big deal to anyone, but I figure I’d mention it since I know people who proudly call themselves “straight edge” often buy the works of any band that also self-applies the “straight edge” label.  That’s why I mention that the band’s straight edge.

Personally, I couldn’t care less.  Smoke crack, eat Froot Loops, jam your ears up with raw heroin and you’ll find me just not fucking caring.
