Review: Eluvium

Eluvium
“An Accidental Memory in the Case of Death”
(Temporary Residence)

Eluvium, as defined in the dictionary, means “residual deposits of soil, dust, and rock particles produced by the action of the wind”. This is a piano-only album; no vocals, no other instruments. One person, one piano. While it’s quite good background music (how insulting is that?) it’s… it’s just there. None of the seven tracks really makes you stop and LISTEN. It’s not bad at all, but it’s not exceptionally interesting either. The album art, drawn by Jeannie Lynn Paske, is fantastic and provides the peaks to Matthew Cooper’s piano playing… only I’m left wishing there was more to it.
