Combining elements from At the Gates and Poison the Well, Burst tears through everything in their path, screaming vocals while a harmony of disturbed guitars wail in the background. Yeah, obviously there are lots of bands doing the punk-metal thing, but few that take it to this level of intensity. Powered by chugging riffs and the deft bass lines of some Euro probably named Jager or Sven, “Prey On Life” continually surprises with its ability to add another unlikely nuance into its repertoire. Take “The Foe Sublime” for example, a tune that begins by beating you about the head and neck with aggressive, growling bridges before adding in a few grating elements and then a few harmonies that can only be by way of Thursday.
