Did any of you happen to catch that Def Leppard movie on VH1? They were from the UK and they ruled. Broken Bones are also from the UK and unfortunately thats where the similarities end, as not even a one armed drummer could save this sorry lot. As many of you may know, one of my longstanding complaints with hardcore punk is a lack of variety from track to track. Honestly, how many guitar-driven, vocal-screeching, drum-thumping songs can one band record? Im not expecting melodic backing vocals or catchy, sing-a-long choruses, mind you-just something to break up the monotony of thirty minutes of the same old thing. Is that too much to ask? Lyrically, Without Conscience is pretty solid. Most of the songs have to do with the lax gun laws here in the US and the numerous human casualties they result in. Sure, its not the most heady of subjects, but anything that passes for a highlight on this release is certainly worthy of mention.
