This is Built to Spill.
They are from Boise, Idaho. The band has been around in some formation around guitarist/vocalist Doug Martsch since 1992.
They are what critics like to call ‘indie rock’. That means on some levels, ‘it rocks’… but typically has some more softer melodies woven in there with a care-free attitude towards song structures.
It is by far one of the most generic labels one can put upon a band, yet still manage to give someone a vague idea of what kind of music a band is keen to play.
Built to Spill are indie rock.
