3.6 Million Pounds of Thrust: NASA Test Fires new booster

NASATestFire

NASA has been making progress with their SLS (Space Launch System) showcasing a test-fire of one of the booster systems that will fling humans further into space. This planet is getting crowded and even Stephen Hawking has stated that the fate of the human race relies on getting the hell out of here.

They are still a few years away from any kind of scheduled launch, but tests like these ensure progress is being made. The next scheduled test takes place at the Kennedy Space Station in 2016.

This is what 3.6 million pounds of thrust sounds like: (make sure the volume is down on your speakers… this sucker is LOUD!)
