Review: Nashville Pussy

Nashville Pussy
“High As Hell”
(TVT Records)

High As Hell offers more earfuls of southern fried ignorance from the Nashvile Pussy quartet. Compared to the previous album, “Let Them eat Pussy”, “High As Hell” rocks out at a more leisurely pace. This could be the influence of the Am Rep label wearing off or the effect of being high as hell. That shit’ll slow you down.

In accordance with this, the new album is likely to delight an AC/DC fan whereas the first would frighten him. The music falls into a strutting mid-tempo by the balls groove that remains down and dirty for the duration of the album’s twelve tracks. Lyrically, we’re treated to many tales of toughness, hickness, drunkeness, and, expectedly, highness.

The album cover art is a big step down compared to the wonderfully funny “Let Them Eat Pussy” cover art. This new cover features the band that consists of two attractive people, the kind with breasts, and two wretched ones, the kind without. The appeal is like that of porn, ugly guys feel a kinship with the ugly fuckers in the band while admiring the brassiere clad guitarists for their skill as guitarists. What else? The idea is that if she’d fuck Ron Jeremy, then, by god, she’d sure as shit fuck you.

High As Hell is well written and conceived and it might fuck you.
