A couple of years ago I was together with this girl named Kim.  I knew our relationship was headed for disaster when I asked her, “What do you think of Jurassic 5?”  And she said, “They’ve made five Jurassic Parks?”

For those of you out there like Kim who have yet to experience these four LA based MCs, do yourself a favor and pick up their EP “Quality Control”.  This offering from J5 follows up on their ‘97 self-titled EP and proves that its success was no fluke.  Thumbing their noses at the traditional West Coast gangsta rap, J5 instead blends positive rhymes with some distinctive old school flavor.

Anyone familiar with the work of The Roots and the Pharcyde will undoubtedly enjoy this record. Jurassic 5’s vocal harmonies’, along with the beats laid down by DJs Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark, will keep your head bobbing and the CD spinning for hours on end.  Jaw dropping tracks include “Jurass Finish First”, “Twelve” and “World of Entertainment”.  Do your ears a favor and pick up “Quality Control“.
