Review: Joseph Arthur

Joseph Arthur
““Come to Where I’m From””
(Real World Records)

Catchy rhyming lyrics and a steady acoustic guitar fill this some-what enjoyable offering from Joseph Arthur. Starting off mellow-dramatic and slow, it switches gears half way through and speeds up a little. However, a morbid, depressing overtone lingers all the way from beginning to end. How come if you decide to play an acoustic you have to be utterly depressed? It’s a well produced piece of work bound to get a few listens. The worst song is the pop ditty the label must have made him throw on there.  It stands out like a smashed thumb.
