Review: The Network

The Network
“Money Money 2020”
(Adeline)

So if you’re one of those people who check on all the music gossip sites, you probably have read the Adeline press releases on The Network and read/listened to comments from label owner/Green Day singer/speculated Network vocalist Billie Joe like “All I gotta say is fuck the Network, those guys are totally spreading rumors. I tried to do those guys a favor by bringing them to this country, and putting out their record, and this is how I get repaid, by talking shit about my band.

Anyways, unfortunately, there’s a contract and I have to put out their record, so the only thing I can say is fuck you, Network.” Regardless of who is actually in the band (the names in the CD insert are all gibberish; a few songs vocals are obviously Billie Joe’s) this is a pretty decent album. It’s basically Devo + synth punk + Pinhead Gunpowder, and done pretty well over the twelve tracks on the album, with highlights like ‘Supermoderl Robots’, ‘Spike’ and ‘Money Money 2020’ getting stuck in your head like Columbian forest ticks. Also included is a DVD with music video’s for every track, a cool bonus I wish other labels would figure out.
