Generators
“From Rust to Ruin”
(TKO)

Comprised of unreleased and out-of-print songs from earlier albums, this CD is full of good, solid street punk.  The Generators serve up plenty of sing-a-long choruses to keep the working class entertained.  The sound is very influenced by late 70s UK punk like The Clash and The Sex Pistols, but they manage to pull it off without sounding forced.  Some of the slower songs seem to break up the continuity of the album, but they keep it interesting.  I could have done without the ska (“City of “Angels”), but they do a competent job of it.  They’re definitely in their element with the more rockin’ tunes, which they play with the right combination of musicianship and swagger.
