The only positive that has come out of the Bush administration and their current foreign policy is the fact that they’ve inspired some great politically motivated music. Taking a cue from current world affairs and adding social awareness is Ricanstruction, with a sound that is one part Suicidal Tendencies and one part Public Enemy. Ironically enough Chuck D (Public Enemy) guests on the albums title track and gives the track a much needed boost like only he can. The spoken word piece at the end of ‘Love on Battlefields’ is magical, while a song like ‘Nigga Machine’ is as inspiring as it is infectious. While nobody can dispute Ricanstruction’s conviction, the band’s one downfall is that their album still lacks the knockout punch that only truly great albums have.
