Review: Pepper

“Kona Town”

I like my iced coffee with cream and two sugars.  Kind of like my music, nice and light but not too sweet. Hawaiian natives Pepper brew a pretty decent blend.  The triumvirate truly captures the essence of island life, but is careful not to overdo it.  Heavily influenced by reggae but tinged with an alternative-rock edge, the catchy, mellow tunes provide a refreshing respite from the heat. “Tradewinds” definitely appealed to the emotions, and gets the most play when Pepper’s in.  Though aptly skilled, the instrumental performance could’ve been stronger and more original.  IE:  Try to step out of Sublime’s shadow!
