Review: Martin Rev

Martin Rev
“To Live”
(File 13 Records)

Indubitably seminal, Martin Rev proves as new releases trickle out that he is a one trick pony that rode into town on a relentless, monotonic electric drumbeat. This CD is more of the same and will keep his standing with the Rev traditionalists, but no new ground is broken. Still pulsing since Suicide, Rev shows a sense of humor here with the ’70s easty listening styled “Gutter Rock”. Also, “Place I Go” stands out from the crowd for at least offering an interesting bass line.
