Manic Hispanic
“The Recline of the Mexican Civilization ”
(BYO Records)
Manic Hispanic is a unique punk rock cover band from Southern California–way south, actually North of the border. However, this is not your typical cover band. Manic Hispanic is an actual band that takes pride in butchering classic songs with their cholo-slang lyrics and Tecate induced gritos. They definitely give these songs some validity no matter how ridiculous the lyrics are. Their notorious renditions of these classic songs may bring horrific shock to influential punk bands such as The Clash, X, Circle Jerks, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, and Bad Religion. But to the listeners, we laugh with sheer delight. The Recline of the Mexican Civilization is the long anticipated follow-up to the Dr. Dream release The Menudo Incident, which was a spoof of Guns N Roses The Spaghetti Incident. This new release features the same hilarious remakes, but this time around, they take on some of the newer bands of today; The Offsprings Come Out and Playtheir version Keep Them Immigrated. Rancids Ruby Sohotheir version Rudy Cholo. Social Distortions Mommys Little Monster their version Mommys Little Cholo. The funniest cover has to be Xs White Girl, in which Manic Hispanic spices it up with Brown Girl. The entire album is a complete pisser and will guarantee nonstop laughs at your next family gathering.
