Lis Harvey
“Topography”
(Erlendahle Records)

This CD was recorded during Lis Harvey’s 2002 Spring Tour. The tracks are taken from two gigs: University of Alaska (Fairbanks, Alaska) and A Room of One’s Own (Madison, Wisconsin). In addition and making for a baker’s dozen of her crisp, ebullient folk-rock, is two other live selections recorded in 1999 at Spring Hill Tavern (Portsmouth, New Hampshire). These are previously unreleased songs and indeed the entire CD is mostly new material. Harvey’s delivery recalls Diana Ah Naid as well as early Ani DiFranco. ¬†Alone on stage with her acoustic guitar, Harvey delivers her personal and compelling songs with warmth. This belies none of what she was also seeking to accomplish. On her Fifty State Tour kicking off August 15, Harvey will perform solo concerts in each of the 50 states of the U.S. in 61 days to set the Guinness World Records mark for “Fastest 50-State Tour by a Solo Female Musician.” Guinness World Records had confirmed for her that no one yet held that record.
